The problem

Everyone has a theory.

Big decisions about positioning, pricing or a new website get made on the loudest opinion in the room. Research feels slow, so it gets skipped, and the team finds out it was wrong after launch. Good customer research is small and specific: a clear decision, the right people to ask and findings in weeks, not quarters.

What you get

Market research without the bloat.

Research sized to one decision, using the data you already have before asking anyone new.

Start from the decision

Each project begins with the decision it must inform, which sets the questions, method and sample.

Interview real customers

One-to-one interviews with customers, lost deals and prospects, recruited and run by us.

Survey at scale

Surveys that test what interviews uncover across a larger sample, analysed with care about who answered.

Map the market

Competitors, alternatives and pricing reviewed from the buyer's side, not from their press releases.

Read the data you have

Analytics, CRM notes, reviews and support tickets mined for patterns before new research is commissioned.

Turn findings into actions

Customer research questions, answered.

A few things worth discussing before your research project takes shape.

What does a customer research agency do?

A customer research agency finds out what customers need, think and do, so a business can make better decisions. At Stega that covers interviews, surveys, win-loss analysis, competitor and market reviews and a short report that ties findings to actions.

How many customer interviews are enough for research?

Eight to twelve customer interviews per segment are usually enough to find the main patterns in needs and objections. After that, new interviews mostly repeat what you have heard. Run a survey afterwards if you need to know how common each pattern is.

What is the difference between a customer research agency and a market research agency?

A customer research agency studies your own customers and prospects in depth, mostly through interviews. A market research agency sizes and maps a whole market, often through large surveys and data. Stega runs focused versions of both, sized to one decision.

How much does customer research cost?

Cost depends on the number of participants, how hard they are to recruit and whether surveys or market analysis are added. Participant incentives are usually a separate cost.

How long does a customer research project take?

Recruiting the right participants often takes longest, especially senior B2B buyers. Findings are worked through in a session with your team, not only sent as a report, so decisions can happen straight away.

Can we do customer research on a small budget?

Yes. Customer research can start with interviewing a handful of recent customers and lost deals, plus reviewing sales notes and support tickets. That covers most early questions. Larger surveys and market sizing only make sense when the decision justifies the cost.
