Astro, but still slow?

Astro starts fast. Images, fonts, third-party scripts and eager islands slowly undo it.

What's included

Fast for real visitors.

Lab scores are a start. We fix what your visitors on real phones and networks wait for.

Optimise asset delivery

Images through Astro's image service, fonts subset and preloaded, and caching headers set so repeat visits load from cache.

Set rendering budgets

Limits on JavaScript, image weight and third-party scripts per template, checked in CI so regressions fail before they deploy.

Review Core Web Vitals

LCP, INP and CLS measured from real users per template and device, with each slow page traced to its cause.

Tune islands and scripts

Hydration directives, script loading and third-party tags reviewed, so interactive parts load when people need them, not before.

Security, by consideration.

Trust is part of the build.

For your Astro project, we consider deployment access, server endpoints, dependencies and connected services as part of one connected build.

Changes you can trace.

GitHub workflows, peer review and dependency checks bring decisions into the release process.

Protected in transit.

Certificate configuration, HTTPS and secure headers help protect the path between your users and your systems.

Intelligence with limits.

Scoped tool access, validated inputs and human approval where automated actions carry consequences.

Baseline. Fix. Guard.

Every fix is measured against a baseline taken before we touch the code.

Astro performance questions.

A few things worth discussing before your Astro performance takes shape.

Why is my Astro site slow?

An Astro site is usually slow because of large images, web fonts, third-party scripts or islands that hydrate on page load. Astro ships little JavaScript by default, so the slowdown is almost always added later. Real-user data shows which of these costs your visitors most.

Do Core Web Vitals affect Astro site rankings?

Core Web Vitals are one of Google's page experience signals, so they affect Astro site rankings at the margin. Content and relevance matter far more. Faster pages still keep visitors on the site and make forms easier to finish, which is the stronger reason to fix them.

How long does an Astro performance audit take?

Fixes follow in order of impact. Guarding the gains with CI budgets takes a little longer, but it stops the site from slowly getting slower again.

Should we switch to Astro to fix site speed?

Switching to Astro fixes site speed when the current framework ships heavy JavaScript for content pages. If the slowdown comes from images, fonts or third-party scripts, a rebuild will not help, because those problems move with you. We audit first and tell you which case you are in.
