Framework holding you back?

Teams move to Astro when the old front end costs more to maintain than it gives back.

What's included

Same URLs. New engine.

An Astro migration rebuilds the front end. Content and URLs come through unchanged unless you choose otherwise.

Map the content

Markdown, MDX, CMS entries and data files moved into Astro content collections with schemas, so broken frontmatter fails the build, not the page.

Preserve every route

Static and dynamic routes rebuilt to match the old paths, including pagination, tags, trailing slashes and locale prefixes.

Validate the redirects

Every path that must change gets a redirect, and a crawl of the old URLs against the new build confirms each returns the right status.

Compare before launch

Visual and SEO diffs between old and new pages, covering titles, canonicals, structured data and layout, reviewed before the domain switches.

Crawl report: every old URL requested against the Astro build, each returning 200 or a 301 to the expected target.

Security, by consideration.

Trust is part of the build.

For your Astro project, we consider deployment access, server endpoints, dependencies and connected services as part of one connected build.

Astro migration questions.

A few things worth discussing before your Astro migration takes shape.

Can you migrate from Gatsby to Astro?

Gatsby sites migrate to Astro well, because both build pages from Markdown, MDX or a CMS. React components can often be reused as Astro islands. Gatsby's GraphQL page queries are replaced by content collections or direct CMS calls, which usually makes the code simpler.

Will migrating to Astro change our URLs?

Migrating to Astro does not have to change a single URL. Astro's file-based and dynamic routing can reproduce most existing path patterns, including trailing slashes. Where a path must change, we add a redirect and test it against a crawl of the old site before launch.

How long does an Astro migration take?

Content volume, the number of route patterns and how much the design changes set the pace. A like-for-like front-end rebuild is fastest. Adding a new CMS during the migration adds content modelling and editor training.

When should we not migrate to Astro?

Skip an Astro migration when the site is mostly a logged-in app, or when your team wants visual editing without developers. Next.js fits app-like products and real-time data better. Webflow suits teams that want to change layouts themselves. For content-led sites with developers on hand, Astro stays a strong choice.
